How to Add Class to Business Spaces

An art collection really adds a distinctive aura to its overall corporate image. A thoughtful and artistic display in the reception or waiting areas are vital in creating that powerful first impression. Generally, a large art collection or art programs for its employees might not be affordable for companies that do not come under the multi-billion dollar banners. Then again, with a little more creativity, you can create your own art programs, arrange new art for a unique look and significantly increase employee satisfaction.Â
The first decision on art and design as a business owner could be for your business cards. As the very first impression maker of your company to your visitors, a well designed business card should not only convey your message but a feeling as well. You may have noticed that people usually tend to collect interesting business cards even if they do not have an immediate requirement for the service. I myself prefer a design from an artist rather than mass produced templates, simply because I want my ‘logo’ to be unique and care to have the image on my card match the vibrations and spirit of the environment of my work. A modest art program at work can not only help bring together your business image for both employees and clients, but also lower stress levels and create more solidarity.
So if the company you work for already has a collection of art, you would find that they leave personal workspaces devoid of any such decoration. As someone spending a major part of your day at the workplace, you would surely appreciate a sense of individual expression and inspiration with art that motivates you.
Open or shared spaces might be the ideal location to feature paintings of rivers, waterfalls and seascapes to lower the competing noises and pressure around. Too extreme choices of art are better avoided while modest pieces like landscapes, wall photo art, posters, mural or even a small sculpture can liven up and infuse more energy to a workspace. However if the environment at work is too hectic, go for art that can calm you in the middle of all the chaos. Company guidelines can also help keep art appropriate to the environment, as in the case of awkward works of art!
There are of course, numerous ways to enhance your workspace in an artistic way. Try out after-hours art classes or host an exhibition of artwork by your staff members. This is a great way to boost employee morale, create interest in your company and support local art, while the modest investment could bring returns in more ways than one.
