Crashing Waves on Big Sur
Art and Interior Design

Since I learned that the Leasures were from Carpinteria, California where I now live, I have taken a great interest in their work. I have been privileged to see many of the original works in a gallery here in the Santa Barbara area. I am not an art critic by any means. I just know what is beautiful. And this painting, Crashing Waves on Big Sur, reminded me of the day last winter when I stood on the beach in my town and the waves were rearing up flinging their force at the beach…crashing and ebbing…the wind was blowing strong, and the water was being sprayed backward just as it is in the painting. Oh how I wanted to be able to capture that scene with my trusty camera lens, but was unable to do so. Ms. Leasure’s painting recalls that day vividly. As I look at the composition of the painting, I can almost feel the wind whipping my hair…hear the roar of the surf. I love the way the receding tide is presented, swirling and foaming, itching to fling itself back to become part of the next big wave. The colors are vivid and magnificent. If you love the sea, as I do, this painting will take you there. I am amazed that this artist can reproduce the feeling of the day as vividly as if one was having the experience all over again.
