Wall Art: Twilight Oak III by Dennis Rhoades

Print Highlights

The deep brown in the foreground might deter some from continuing to observe the poster, but I think the brown is a good balance for the blues and purples in the piece. If the foreground was lighter, you wouldn't appreciate the brighter colors as much. Your eyes may not even be drawn to the tree first.

The moody blues and greeny-yellows give Rhoades' picture a forlorn look. The hazy outline of the lone tree leads your eye to the dark brown foreground. Notice the skinny strip of teal and bright purple in the background of the poster behind the huge tree. That could possibly signify a body of water. Maybe the artist was looking to portay sadness in that the tree is the only focal point in the picture.
